We’re grateful for the success of our Economic Wisdom Project Talks, a library of short and accessible – but catalytic and theologically weighty – videos that can be easily assigned to students in classrooms. Covering topics from Jesus as an economic teacher to the Trinity and work to how we can preach a public faith without making atheists, these talks spark insight and conversations without requiring you to remove anything else from your syllabi in order to make room.
We’re seeing rapid growth in classroom use of these videos. In the 2018-19 school year, EWP Talks were assigned in 60 classes with a total enrollment of 1,381 students. Just in the spring/summer of 2019, EWP Talks were assigned to students in 40 classes with a total enrollment of 839 students.
(Someone bearing an uncanny resemblance to the ON director may have made an announcement at Karam Forum 2020 in which he accidentally said that the videos had been assigned over 800 times in a year, rather than in a semester. Those responsible have been sacked.)
We’re working hard to bring you several new EWP Talks from Karam Forum 2020, including the one in which the ON director – the real one – literally toots his own horn, as well as a powerful talk on reconciliation and community impact from Jules Martinez. We’re also working to bring you new videos in interview formats, to mix things up from our traditional focus on TED-style talks; look for interviews with Rachael and Jacob Denhollander on justice and vocation, as well as Lisa Slayton and Terry Timm on discipling people in the new economy. They’ll feature the same combination of “short and accessible” with “catalytic and weighty” that you’ve come to expect from the Economic Wisdom Project. Watch this newsletter for those videos to roll out over the spring!
