Heads up if you’re attending ETS in Providence or AAR in Boston this November! The ON will be serving up stimulating panels at both meetings.

The Economics of Love at ETS

Tom Nelson will discuss his transformative new book, The Economics of Neighborly Love, at the Oikonomia Network’s annual lunch event during the Evangelical Theological Society meeting. As always, complimentary lunch will be provided. Please register if you plan to attend.

Nelson, whose book offers a provocative and far-reaching exploration of the biblical theme of fruitfulness and its implications for our private and public lives, is president of Made to Flourish and a member of the ON steering committee. Vincent Bacote of Wheaton College, also a familiar face to the ON, will facilitate discussion.

Also at ETS, check out two sessions chaired by ON director Greg Forster:

  • Peter Leithart, R.R. Reno and Jennifer McNutt discussing “Public Legacies of the Reformation: Freedom and Fragmentation” at the session of the newly created Public Theology consultation (Thursday, Nov. 16, 8:30 – 11:40 am in the Omni, Kent room)
  • “Economic Justice in the First-Generation Reformers” with Matthew Arbo, W. Bradford Littlejohn and Greg Forster (Thursday, Nov. 16, 3:00 – 6:10 pm in the Omni, Providence Ballroom IV).

Perspectives on Human Flourishing at AAR

At the American Academy of Religion meeting, the ON is supporting a panel on “Human Flourishing: Biblical, Theological and Philosophical Issues.” The session, organized by ON steering committee member Chris Armstrong in cooperation with the Evangelical Philosophical Society, takes place on Friday, Nov. 17, 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Sheraton Boston, Olmstead room. It features:
