The Oikonomia Network (ON) will once again host a public lunch event at the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society. Titled “The Global Economy: Implications for the Church,” this year’s event will be hosted by Scott Rae and will feature two co-presenters: P.J. Hill, professor emeritus of economics at Wheaton College, and the ON’s own Chris Armstrong, professor of church history at Bethel Seminary. Hill and Armstrong will discuss the past and present impact of the growing economy, first created by the Industrial Revolution, and how it intersects with the church’s mission.

The event will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 11:45 a.m. -1:15 p.m., in the Marriott Stadium Ballroom in Baltimore. Lunch will be served.

Also note that the ETS consultation on work and economics will hold its panel on Tuesday afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:10 p.m., in Marriott room BCC-350. The Acton Institute’s Stephen Grabill will moderate a discussion on Economic Flourishing in Baptist, Pentecostal, and Wesleyan traditions with ON leaders and friends Chad Brand (Southern Baptist Seminary), Charlie Self (Assemblies of God Seminary), and David Wright (Indiana Wesleyan University).
